The North Bay Battalion have lost two straight close games.

After a 12-round shootout loss to Erie last Thursday, the Troops dropped a 4-3 decision on the road yesterday in Sudbury.

With the game tied at three, the Wolves scored the game winner with 44 seconds left in the third period.

The Troops are back in action Friday against Niagara.

 

The North Bay Major Bantam AAA Trappers won gold at the Big Nickel Tournament this weekend.

They defeated a Thunder Bay team in the final.

Brett Richardson was named top scorer and tournament MVP.

 

In OCAA women’s volleyball, the Canadore Panthers are 4-0 on the season.

This after wins over Seneca and Fleming on the weekend.

The Canadore men improved to 3-1 with wins over Seneca and Fleming.

In OCAA men’s basketball, Canadore lost both of their games on the weekend to Georgian and George Brown.

The Panthers are now 1-2 on the season.

 

The Nipissing Lakers lacrosse team has advanced to the Baggataway Cup next weekend in Toronto.

The Lakers will play Brock in the quarterfinals.

This after they defeated Queen’s 13-10 on the weekend.

In OUA hockey, the Nipissing men lost 5-2 to UOIT on Friday while the women dropped a 2-1 decision to Laurentian.

Also this weekend, both Nipissing basketball teams lost to Lakehead while both volleyball teams won their games against York.

 

The Powassan Voodoos have won five straight games.

They defeated Blind River 3-2 in overtime on Saturday.

Next up, the Voodoos are home to French River on Thursday night.

 

West Ferris won their third straight NDA senior football title on Friday.

The Trojans scored a 31-21 win over St Joseph-Scollard Hall to advanced to the NOSSA final against Korah in the Soo next weekend.

 

The North Bay Youth Volleyball Club Lakers U17 girls team (pictured below) won bronze at the first OVA Provincial Cup tournament of the season on the weekend.

After going undefeated in pool play at the Barrie event, the Lakers lost to a team from Richmond Hill in the semifinals, then defeated a Stratford team in the bronze medal game.
