For the 2nd straight year, the North Bay Battalion are in the playoffs.

They clinched a spot thanks to Barrie’s loss in Owen Sound last night.

Meantime, the Battalion will look a little different tonight as they don North Bay Centennials jerseys in a tribute to the 1994 OHL championship team.

It was 25 years ago that the Cents defeated the Detroit Junior Red Wings in overtime to win the OHL title.

John McLellan is the senior manager, marketing and business development for the North Bay Battalion.

He says several members of that team will be in attendance at tonight’s game.

“Both goaltenders, Scott Roche and Sandy Allan, will be here. They were instrumental in the run to the championship. Also here will be Brad Brown and Damien Bloye,” he says.

He says Mike Burman and Steve McLaren who live in North Bay will also be in attendance.

The Battalion host Hamilton tonight.

McLellan says it’s important for the Battalion to honor the history here.

“The North Bay Battalion are carrying the torch for OHL hockey in North Bay. It’s no different than the Centennials not forgetting about the Trappers before them. There’s great history here,” McLellan says.
