North Bay OPP are investigating a break-in to a residence on Hwy 522 in East Mills Township, that saw three Samurai Swords and numerous firearms stolen.

Police say they include rifles, a shotgun and revolvers.

Gold, platinum and silver bullion valued at about $50,000 was also taken along with coins valued at about $2,000.

The break-in happened between Nov 10th and 12th.

Certain minor crimes can now be reported online to OPP.
Provincial Police say the increased use of Online Reporting will allow frontline officers to focus on urgent calls and crime prevention strategies.
The list of crimes that can be reported online include:
– Theft Under $5000
– Mischief / Damage to Property Under $5000
– Mischief / Damage to Vehicle Under $5000
– Theft from Vehicle
– Lost / Missing Property Under $5000
– Stolen License Plates
– Driving Complaints (after the occurrence)
In 2018, the OPP Provincial Communications Centres (PCC) received over two million 9-1-1, non-emergency and administrative calls.
Of these, officers were dispatched to approximately 1.05 million occurrences.
“The Ontario Provincial Police continually strives to improve efficiency in processes and service delivery, including effectively using technology to better serve the public. By using Online Reporting to report minor crimes, such as thefts, minor damage to property and vehicles and graffiti, you are increasing the availability of officers and communications operators for the most urgent calls,” says Chris Harkins, OPP Deputy Commissioner
To access the system go to opp.ca/reporting, choose your location and click on Start a Report.
Ontario Provincial Police say this will take the user to a secure link where they will be given precise instructions on how to fill out the report.
