North Bay OPP have laid several firearms related charges against a 35 year old Callander man.

Police say they were doing routine patrol on Sunday night on Highway 11 when officers suspected a driver may be impaired.

Police say upon investigation they located a loaded .22 calibre pistol.

The charges include impaired driving, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm and knowing there was a firearm in a vehicle.

In addition, police laid several firearm counts against a 75 year old Callander man.

A 43 year old North Bay man has been charged with driving while impaired.

The arrest was made after police conducted a RIDE check on Highway 654 in Nipissing Township last Friday.

North Bay OPP have now charged 58 drivers with impaired this year. In all of last year, the figure was 49.
