Just in time for the long weekend, a new Adventure Trails Map for the area has been released.

Discovery Routes says it’s all about inspiring people to get outside and explore.

The map features hundreds of kilometers of trails for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and paddling across the Northeast and the Almaguin Highlands, catering to every age and ability.

Officials say trails are not only gathering places for friends and families to be active together, they provide opportunities to connect and re-connect with nature and the outdoors.

They can also be an attraction that bring visitors to a community and support the local economy.

“This new map is just one of the ways that Discovery Routes is able to support our many Trail Partners across the region and encourage more individuals to discover a new trail and get involved with their local trails community,” said Jennifer McCourt, Discovery Routes Executive Director.

Tourism North Bay is also releasing a Pocket Trail Guide featuring nine hiking favourites in North Bay.

“There is a demand for these types of outdoor experiences,” said Steve Dreany, Executive Director of Tourism North Bay. “We are happy to be working collaboratively with Discovery Routes to provide resources for visitors seeking to experience North Bay’s natural playground. These new local resources will be made available at the Toronto Outdoor Adventure Show later this month to showcase North Bay as a destination for adventure travellers.”

The new trails map can be ordered online at www.discoveryroutes.ca/map for the cost of shipping and handling.

They’re also available for free at various local businesses and information centres detailed on the Discovery Routes website.
