North Bay City Council has approved a North Bay Transit pilot project to Via Mobility LLC.

It’s called the dynamic dispatch transit pilot and essentially it’s designed for people to book a ride during off peak hours.

Councillor Mike Anthony is a big supporter.

“The environment wins because you don’t have a bus running empty. The taxpayer wins because they’re not paying for a bus in off peak hours that’s empty and the users win too,” he says.

Councillor Scott Robertson agrees.

“Someone can get off work at eight and may have to wait until nine to catch the bus home. Hopefully, this system can make things more convenient,” Robertson says.

If the pilot is successful it could be expanded for the next three years.

The city hopes to start the pilot in the fall or maybe the winter.
