It was a golden night in both NYC and L.A. for the 78th Golden Globe Awards.

Sunday’s award show kicked off with hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s bringing the laughs in the virtual/in-person broadcast of the Globes. Poehler held court in L.A. and Fey from atop New York City’s Rockefeller Center, in The Rainbow Room. Both performing to a small crowd of “smoking hot first responders and essential workers,” per Fey.

In the opening monologue they called on the HFPA to add Black voters and they joked about the difference between movies and TV Sunday night.

Check out the opening monologue below:

The show wasn’t without it’s technical difficulties, however, viewers weren’t expecting it to happen so early in the broadcast.

Daniel Kaluuya won the first Globe of the night for his work in “Judas and the Black Messiah,” but he almost suffered a major devastating moment after receiving the first award of the night.

As Laura Dern presented him with the award for ” Best Actor in a Supporting Role” the camera cut to him to make his acceptance speech. Shortly after that happened, it appeared as if Daniel was freezing up and talking but there was absolutely no sound. Well, it was a major technical difficulty but things seemed to smooth out.
