A 16 year old male has been charged with several offenses including flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, disobeying a stop sign-failing to stop and driving without a license.

Police say on Saturday morning, someone was speeding on McGibbon St.

Police say they activated a cruiser’s emergency lights and siren but the speeding continued.

Police say the vehicle was doing 80 km/hr on Cartier St. went through a four way stop at Cartier and Champlain Streets, over a grass embankment and then on to Highway 11.

Police stopped the pursuit for safety reasons and the vehicle was finally stopped soon after in West Nipissing by an officer there.

 

Also, a North Bay city worker suffered minor injuries after being hit by a vehicle last Thursday.

Police say the vehicle was on Chippewa St. in the westbound lane during construction.

Police say the westbound lane was open but the eastbound lane was closed and a barricade was up and the motorist was attempting to avoid the detour.

The driver was issued a ticket for driving the wrong way.

 

Meantime, a 63 year old city man has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Police say a male person was carrying a large machete at a shopping mall on Lakeshore Drive last Friday.

The male told police he was carrying it in the event he needed it for his own protection.

 

And North Bay Police have charged a 52 year old city male with careless use of a firearm.

Police say several shots were fired into the air on Besserer Road on Monday morning.

Police seized a 12 gauge shotgun and a 303 calibre rifle.
