The Nipissing women’s hockey team earned a weekend split. After a 3-1 loss to Brock on Saturday, the Lakers beat York 3-2 in overtime yesterday.

In men’s hockey, the Lakers lost 5-1 to Laurentian on Friday night.

In OUA volleyball, Nipissing won 3-nothing over Lakehead on Saturday.

The season ended on the weekend for the Nipissing Lakers lacrosse team. They were eliminated in playoff action in Peterborough as they fell 17-11 to Trent.

in cross country, the Nipissing Lakers women’s squad placed 12th at the OUA championships in the 6 K race.

The top individual Laker was Stephanie Knowles who was 56th overall.

In the men’s 10 K the top Laker was Teagan Retty.

He was 64th out of 101 competitors.

Overall, the Lakers team was 14th.

In OCAA volleyball, Canadore hosted Georgian yesterday.

The women lost 3-nothing while the men lost 3-1.

Meantime, in men’s basketball on Saturday, Canadore won their first game of the season 64-61 over Loyalist.

Daniel Smalling led the Panthers with 18 points followed up by Tarez Hepburn with 11 points.

West Ferris won the NDA senior football title on Friday night with a 61-nothing win over St Joseph-Scollard Hall.

Meantime, in junior play West Ferris will take on Franco Cite in the final.

The Trojans won their semifinal 34-14 over Algonquin while Franco Cite defeated Widdifield 50-6 in their semifinal.

In the NOJHL, a couple of wins for the Powassan Voodoos on the weekend.

Gary Mantz scored a hat trick as Powassan doubled up on Iroquois Falls 4-2 yesterday afternoon (Sun).

The Voodoos shut out Timmins 5-nothing on Friday night.

The North Bay Midget AAA Trappers won both of their games on the weekend. They beat the Sudbury Minor Midget Wolves 10-2 on Friday then 5-3 on Saturday.
