MPP Vic Fedeli is calling for real action on hydro bills, saying they continue to go up despite what he calls band-aid solutions from the province.

He was in Sudbury, highlighting a business that had a $42,000 hydro bill recently, yet only $1,200 was for actual electricity.

Fedeli says the bulk of it was for the Global Adjustment Fee.

He says that’s the catch basin for things like Green Energy that we overpay for.

He says $26,000 in this particular bill in a 1 month period is for wind and solar energy that we pay Quebec and the United States for power we don’t use.

He says there also high amounts for delivery, debt retirement charge and taxes too.

He says it indicates the system is out of control and it’s having a real impact on the productivity of businesses and job growth.

Fedeli says this example is the norm and not the exception.

He says the government has to stop signing contracts for power the province doesn’t need.
