North Bay OPP with some free advice on how to deter breakins.

The list of tips includes equip your entry doors with dead bolts and lock wIndows, have outdoor motion sensor lights, install a home security system, lock your garage door, stop mail service if you’re away, don’t announce your going anywhere on social media and keep a list of serial numbers for all your items.

As well, ask a neighbor to take care of your garbage while you’re away and keep in mind any engraved items are considered by criminals as damaged goods and call police if you notice anything suspicious.

Meantime, North Bay OPP are investigating several break and enters.

One incident on Boundary Road in Bonfield Township involved an attempted break and enter in which an unknown person or persons tried to gain entry to a storage container but were not successful.

Also, there was a residential break in in Grand Desert.

Police say a gun cabinet containing two firearms was stolen.

One was a semi automatic rifle and the other a bolt action rifle.

And Three residences were broken into in Boulter Township.

Police discovered this after receiving a call about a suspicious person.

The breakins happened late last month and items taken include plywood, gerry cans of gas and a four wheeler winch.
