City Council has endorsed a couple of motions brought forward this week by city councillor Mac Bain.

The first one deals with the infrastructure deficit and the council motion supports the Association of Municipalities of Ontario‘s desire to give municipalities tools to fund the infrastructure deficit in their communities. Bain says the city of Toronto has been given revenue tools and AMO is looking for support for other municipalities like North Bay

He says AMO will be meeting with the province in February and they’re looking for municipal support to make their case stronger in negotiations.

The other motion deals with federal and provincial support so there’s less of a hardship on the local taxpayer for phase 2 of the federal infrastructure program.

North Bay will have to come up with a project and essentially Bain says they want senior levels of government to help so there’s less of a municipal share.
