Legislative changes by the provincial government will have an impact on Workplace Safety North.

Tom Welton is Director Indistrial at Workplace Safety North.

He says in 2017 says they have several new priorities regarding legislative changes at Queens Park.

He says one concerns the mining industry.

Welton says risk assessments are now required in workplaces on the highest potential hazards.

He says they have to be first assessed and then eliminated.

Welton says WSN is working with the government and employers on this.

He says they’ve scheduled webinars and training courses.

Meantime, Weldon says they will be working with small businesses of less than 50 employees in regards to the accessible employment law and accommodate workers with disabilities.

Other events include a mining health and safety conference in April and workplace excellence awards as well.
