North Bay Police Deputy Chief Scott Tod says they’ve doing everything they can to deal with the fentanyl issue in the community.

He says they’ve implemented a number of policies and procedures including how to handle fentanyl, how to identify it in its many forms, how to storeit  and how to seize it in a safe manner.

He says Fentanyl is not being made here as it’s coming from elsewhere.

Tod says it is being trafficked in the form of powder or pills.

He says they will continue to work with provincial and federal authorities on the issue.

Tod says they are also working on the issue with community partners in terms of identifying addiction.

Tod says they are also planning a community awareness day regarding the issue.

He says they will be describing what Fentanyl is and how it is impacting the community.
