Downtown North Bay - (Christmas theme) Nov 2014Changes are coming to the city’s zoning bylaw, and they will affect future downtown residential parking.

Manager of Planning Services Beverley Hillier outlined plans to a meeting of the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce Thursday night.

Presently, any new residential use needs two new parking spaces, but with the change, new projects up to four units won’t need any parking spaces at all.

Hillier says it’s aimed at recognizing the mixed use flavour of the downtown.

“It should be a place where you can live work and play. There’s great access to the waterfront and all those spaces and so you shouldn’t need a car inorder to live in that area of the community.”
