The OPP’s March Break distracted driving campaign may be over, but police say they’re committed to year-round enforcement and education.
They say it’s needed, pointing out the 11 distracted-related fatalities so far this year is nearly triple the figure from last year.
That also outpaces the 9 speed-related deaths, 6 alcohol/drug-related fatalities and three seatbelt-related deaths.
Over 2,400 distracted driving charges were laid across the province last week.
OPP are again calling on passengers to “speak up and be a survivor” and to help save lives by showing zero tolerance to drivers who text, talk on their cell phones, or engage in other distractions.
