Organizers of this years North Bay Kiwanis Music Festival have identified Canada’s 150th birthday as the focus of this years competition which starts on April 17th.

Kiwanis Club president Ralph Celantano says it’s a great way to enjoy great music and to celebrate the country too.

He says they have developed some creative ideas and their event will feature the music of some great Canadian composers.

The event will be held at several locations over a two week period including at Christ Church Anglican on Greenwood Avenue, Calvin Presbyterian Church, Chippewa Secondary School and St Joseph-Scollard Hall.

The two week event wraps up on April 27th.

Celantano says there will be all kinds of music and feature many different types of musicians and singers including flautists, recorders, saxaphone performers, ensembles, bands and also choirs.
He says they have lots of school support so students can prepare for this kind of competition all year long.

The grande finale concert will be held on May 13th at Christ Church.

Music goers are asked to bring along non perishable food items for the North Bay Food Bank.
