The future of Cassells Street was up for public discussion last night (Tuesday) at city hall.

The roadway could be four-laned from King Street West to the bypass.

Senior Capital Program Manager Adam Lacombe says the city is addressing issues over traffic congestion on this part of Cassells.

“The major issue is traffic and the current land configuration, there’s large sections that are only two lanes that just don’t have the capacity for the current traffic,” he says.

Lacombe says there will be other chances for public input.

Following that will be the design work, with the hope that construction could start next spring.
