The North Bay Winter Farmers Market is back starting this weekend.
They’ll be open 10 am to 2 pm every Saturday through the end of April.
Market Co-chair Wayne Chalmers is also a MyPick verified farmer from Trout Creek.
He says the winter market is popular.
“This will be our second season, last year was very successful, drawing in anywhere from 1,500 to 2,500 people every Saturday morning,” he says.
Chalmers says there will be eight to ten farmers at each market, plus lots of baking, preserves, handmade gifts and more.
All of the vendors have to be from within 100 km of North Bay.
He says that’s beneficial for their customers, especially with produce.
“We’re picking it Friday afternoon and you’re getting it Saturday morning, you can’t get better than that. And the support from the people of North Bay, is bar none, one of the best markets in the province,” he adds.
MyPick verified means all produce, honey, eggs and maple syrup sold at the market is grown on the farms represented.
“The customers love it, because they get to meet the people actually making the products, or growing the products. They know the money is staying in the community. There’s over 100 jobs involved in the Farmers Market in North Bay,” he says.
