Widdifield is one and one at the 44th annual NDA hockey tournament, taking place at Memorial Gardens and the West Ferris Arena.

After a 6-2 loss in the morning to Lo-Ellen from Sudbury, the Wildcats won 4-1 over Espanola Thursday night.

Algonquin tied Confederation 1-1 after shutting out Espanola 3-0 earlier in the day.

Meantime, Chippewa won both their games, 3-2 over St Benedicts and 3-1 over Manitoulin, St Joseph-Scollard Hall lost 3-0 to Central Algoma and tied St Benedicts at 2 and West Ferris lost both of their games, 5-1 to Confederation and 5-4 to Lo-Ellen.

All twelve teams have another game Friday before the quarterfinals later in the day.

 

The Nipissing hockey and basketball teams wrap up their pre-Christmas schedule this weekend on the road.

The men’s hockey team looks to snap a two game losing skid in Montreal, with games against Concordia on Friday then McGill on Saturday.

The women’s hockey team is riding a three game winning streak and plays in Windsor Saturday then Waterloo on Sunday.

Both Nipissing basketball teams are in Windsor Friday then take on Western, in London on Saturday.

After this weekend league play resumes in January.

 

A few trades for the Powassan Voodoos as they add more size and experience.

First, the Voodoos acquired 20-year-old Stouffville Spirit forward Brandon McKinnon for a player development fee.

They also acquired 20-year old goaltender Julian Galloway and the rights to forward Jacob Vance from the Amherst Ramblers of the Maritime Jr. A Hockey League in exchange for a Development fee and the rights to defenceman Alex Boudreau.

16-year-old forward Ty Gilberds was dealt to Timmins yesterday for a development fee.

On the ice, the Voodoos are in Kirkland Lake tomorrow night (Sat) then back on home ice Monday to take on Cochrane.
