Municipal Property on Seymour Street is going to change hands.

North Bay City Council made it official this week.

The new owners will be Grant Castle Corp.

Councillor Derek Shogren says they’ll be putting in a gas station, convenience store and an A&W restaurant, in the area that used to include the Dionne Quints home and the tourist information centre.

He says it’s a good deal, even if some may speculate about what they would’ve liked to have seen built there.

“Why didn’t we put in a Red Lobster or a Keg there? We offer the land for sale and everybody had a chance to bid on it. That bid came in at significantly more than we appraised it so the citizens got good value for that property,” Shogren says.

The land was sold for $1.6-million.
