The Starter Company program continues to pay off in Nipissing-Parry Sound.

It provides training and funding for prospective new entrepreneurs.

Jennifer Nickerson is the project coordinator for the Starter Company for the Business Centre Nipissing Parry Sound. 

She says 7 new businesses have recently opened their doors because young business people are completing their program which includes training and support in addition to funding.

Since 2014, 40 business have been started.

Nickerson adds of those, 38 are still in business and 70 people have jobs.

She says those who complete the program are eligible for grant money up to $5,000.

The program is for individuals who aren’t in school full time and are between the ages of 18 and 29.
