It’s a first in Ontario and it’s happening at Canadore.

The college has announced automotive service technician apprentices will be able to earn educational hours online, starting this fall.

Officials say it’s a cost-effective option for students by giving them the chance to stay in their home communities and remain working.

Over 80 per cent of the educational portion will be delivered online.

Higher enrolment is anticipated with the move.

Canadore welcomes about 115 apprentices each year in the automotive service technician program levels 1-3.

Nipissing University’s campus in Bracebridge has a new owner.

The university says since announcing plans to consolidate it’s programming to their main campus in North Bay in June 2015 they’ve worked with the Town of Bracebridge to find a new owner.

Nipissing finalized the sale to Dewey Educational Group in December with the transfer taking place in March.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale will be used to set up an endowment for future Nipissing University students from the Muskoka region.
