North Bay’s Director of Tourism is promising 2018 will be a magical year for area tourism.

Steve Hollingshead (pictured) told directors of the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce last night (Thursday) that the winning formula is forming partnerships.

“If we want to keep moving up and play the game, getting in the arena with the big boys, we need to work harder to get more partners involved, so that we can do more marketing so we can attract more people,” he says.

Chamber Director Jake Lacourse calls Tourism North Bay the city’s best kept secret, but says he’s excited by the possibilities.

Meantime, Tourism North Bay is going to showcase the city to a group of southern Ontario media during the upcoming World Women’s Curling Championship.

Hollingshead says reporters will be on what’s called a Familiarization and Marketing trip, which he hopes will get the city recognition during the curling event in March.

“We’re going to tour them around the community, give them a big breakfast and then we’re going to have a media VIP event at night,” he says.

It’s all part of ramping up tourism efforts this year.
