The Saskatchewan bus crash has hit close to home for many Canadians including those who make a living driving buses.

The manager of Tisdale Bus Lines in North Bay is Jason Hallett.

He told bay today they travel 3, 000,000 Kilometres a year and many of their buses ferry sports teams to and from their games.

“When you get on the bus after a game and you have to travel 500 kilometres to get back home you trust that the driver is rested up, you’re going to have a safe trip home and if the weather is poor the driver will drive accordingly,” he says.

He says the bus industry is a very small one and so the companies are familiar with each other.

“The distance between us doesn’t mean anything. We have buses that travel there they have buses that travel here. We need help or they need help whether it’s a driver change or a bus wash,” Hallett says.
Hallett says bus drivers will probably be thinking more about these types of incidents following this tragedy.

Hallett told Bay Today says he found about the collision which claimed 15 lives over the phone.

“I can’t imagine receiving that phone call that 1 of our buses has been involved in an accident and the status is unknown but there are major injuries,” he says.
