The end of the annual winter disconnection ban is approaching for North Bay Hydro customers.

Tomorrow (Tuesday, May 1st) is the day the ban ends and all accounts need to be in good standing.

North Bay Hydro Customer Solutions Advisor Neil Russell says disconnection is only used as a last resort.

“We work with our customers, whenever possible, to make arrears payment arrangements when difficulties arise and we urge customers to be proactive and reach out to us if they are in such a position,” he says.

Russell also says there’s a couple government programs that may apply for some customers.

“The Ontario Electricity Support Program, or the OESP, and the Affordability Fund Trust, the AFT, which customers can potentially qualify for additional incentives like home insulation or Energy Star appliances,” he says.

There’s also the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program.
