Local businessman Stephen Glass is the Liberal’s candidate for the upcoming provincial election.

The life-long advocate for children and people with disabilities was nominated yesterday.

“I’ve spent my life working to make the lives of people and communities healthier and safer,” Glass said. “Creating successful, sustainable communities of inclusion and justice in Nipissing is my life’s work and passion and I won’t let anyone take us backwards.”

Glass says the Liberals have a strong record in Nipissing — including four-laning Highway 11, building the two new hospitals in Mattawa and North Bay, the Nurse Practitioners’ clinic, One Kids’ Place, the new library at Nipissing University and Canadore College, housing for people with disabilities and the new Hands and Public Health buildings.

He says the Liberal plan includes building a stronger, healthier Ontario through investments in health care, including through free medications for everyone under 25 and expansion to those over 65, providing free tuition for over 235,000 students and on-the-job learning opportunities and helping 100,000 kids access quality, licensed child care.

Meantime, Kathleen Wynne, Doug Ford and Andrea Horwath take part in the first televised leaders debate tonight (Monday) on City at 6 pm.

The election goes June 7th.
